This worksheet provides practice of halving two digit odd numbers.
The method used in this case is to partition numbers into tens and ones, halving each part and then combining the answer. For example: half of 47 is half of 40 + half of 7. Half of 40 is 20 and half of 7 is 3.5 so half of 47 must be 23.5.
Firstly, learners will look at halving each odd single digit number using counters as a visual aid. Students will then see an example showing how the model (which is similar in structure to a part whole model) is used, before answering 11 questions.
