Order of Operations worksheet description

This worksheet is perfect for learners beginning to calculate with multiple operations as it only includes addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

Section A begins with an example where we have underlined which part of the calculation will be worked out first. Students are encouraged to do the same when calculating for themselves. The example is followed by three questions which contain two different operations.

Again, section B kicks off with an example. In this section, expressions contain three operations so learners must identify which calculation to do first and which calculation to do second.

In section C, pupils will choose the correct answer to a calculation from three possible answers. Answers have been ‘planted’ to draw out misconceptions.

Section D consists of 15 further questions for students to answer using the correct order of operations.

Finally, section E contains two spot, correct and explain the mistake questions.
