Subtracting from Multiples of 10 (B) will see your learners subtracting two digit numbers from multiples of 10 mentally.
In section A, pupils will partition numbers depending on place value, subtract tens first and ones second from the multiples of 10.
Then in section B pupils will complete six subtraction wheels where they will subtract the number in the centre from the number outside of it or start with the number at the centre and subtract the outside of it. There is opportunity here for students to consider subtraction fact families as calculations such as 50 - 5 = 45 and 50 - 5 = 45 appear.
