Understanding the Whole worksheet description

In order to work with mixed numbers and improper fractions, pupils must first understand fractions as part of a whole and understand that a whole is made when numerator and denominator are equal.

When working through this worksheet pupils will: use diagrams to state how many parts make a whole, calculate how many more parts are needed to make a whole, split 1 into different fractions using part whole models and choose pairs of fractions that sum to 1 with the same denominators.
