This worksheet is designed to make dividing by decimal numbers more understandable.
Learners are introduced to dividing by decimals by considering how many 400 ml cups of water can be filled by a 2 litre jug in Section A. They are asked to write a number sentence for the problem and think about what they notice.
Next students will investigate patterns when dividing by decimals. They will consider: the results of dividing powers of 10 by 0.1, how the outcomes of division problems remain consistent when both the dividend and divisor are scaled by the same power of 10, and the relationships in calculations like 30 ÷ 60 and 30 ÷ 0.6.
In Section C, there are 24 calculations to complete involving dividing integers by decimals and in Section D students will answer 15 questions involving dividing decimals by decimals.
Section E consists of multiple problem solving questions.
