This worksheet will engage your learners in forming equations of straight lines from pairs of coordinates that are on the line, or from the gradient and one point on the line. It simplifies the method, making it accessible for all.
In section A, pupils will focus on calculating the gradient of the line segment between pairs of coordinates. This part is arranged in a table format where students will first compute y2 – y1 and x2 – x1 before using these results to find the gradient.
Next, learners will work out the equations of different lines using the gradients provided and a point that lies on the line.
Students then progress to finding the equations solely using a pair of coordinates in section C. This section continues to be scaffolded.
Gradients are positive, negative, integers and fractions.
