Continue your learners' progress by now, considering fractions equivalent to one-third.
Section A asks students to state what fraction of each shape is shaded and if they can identify any images showing one-third shaded. There is room for thought as students are asked, "what do you notice?" thus encouraging students to think about how they can identify fractions equivalent to one-third in the future.
Section B takes this further by asking learners to shade in a third of 5 different images. A fraction wall is introduced in section C to give students variety in the representation of fractions and enables them to see clearly how different fractions can be equivalent. This would be an excellent time to discuss any other equivalent fractions they can see.
Finally, in section D, students combine all of their learning to find fractions equivalent to one-third when given a numerator or a denominator.
