Order of Operations – Understanding Fractions as Division worksheet description

With this worksheet on order of operations (formally known as BODMAS) students will continue to develop their calculation skills whilst understanding fractions as division. Learners will identify the correct order of operations throughout from all four operations, indices and brackets. Students are only required to square numbers in expressions containing indices.

Sections A and B begin with an example, where we encourage pupils to underline which part of the calculation they will work out first, second and so on. This is to avoid any misconceptions, such as including a number twice within their calculations.

In section C, pupils will match up pairs of equivalent calculations. This section really highlights fractions as division and will help to ensure your students are confident in completing calculations that contain fraction lines.

Section D contains six harder questions for students to answer.
