Solving Equations – Unknowns on Both Sides worksheet description

Take a methodical approach to solving equations with unknowns on both sides of the equals sign with this worksheet that asks learners to first decide whether to eliminate the variable from the left or the right hand side followed by whether they should add or subtract the variable to eliminate it.

Page one consists of 9 minimally different questions which help students understand the underlying concepts more thoroughly by highlighting differences and connections between similar problems.

There are a further 10 equations to solve on page two which also has slightly less scaffolding. Solutions to equations are positive and negative, integers and fractions.
