The worksheet on the volume of a cone is divided into multiple sections aimed at helping students practise and master calculations related to cones.
In Section A, students will revisit calculating the area of circles.
Section B encourages students to find the area of the base of cones before using it to calculate the volume.
Then in Section C, learners are given the formula for finding the volume of a cone and will use this to calculate the volume of 8 different cones. Students are asked to give their answers to two decimal places, and in terms of π. In some questions, pupils are also required to use Pythagoras' theorem to find the vertical height of the cone before calculating its volume.
Lastly Section D tests students' understanding by requiring them to calculate missing lengths given the volume and other dimensions of a cone and to find the volume of a composite solid.
