Suitable for Grades: 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade
CCSS: 2.NBT.B.7, 3.NBT.A.2
CCSS Description: Add and subtract within 1000, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method. Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, one adds or subtracts hundreds and hundreds, tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds.
Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
These addition grids enable students to understand the commutativity of addition as they find the sum of numbers at the top of each column and start of each row.
This set of addition grids will see learners adding tens to 4 digit numbers. The questions increase in difficulty as the worksheet progresses; starting with adding a tens to a multiple of 1,000, then multiples of 100, before progressing to adding tens to any 4 digit number (firstly without regrouping and then with regrouping).
There are 36 questions to answer in total.
