Calculating Angles on Parallel Lines with Transversals (A) (with clues) WORKSHEET

CCSS Description: Use informal arguments to establish facts about the angle sum and exterior angle of triangles, about the angles created when parallel lines are cut by a transversal, and the angle-angle criterion for similarity of triangles. For example, arrange three copies of the same triangle so that the sum of the three angles appears to form a line, and give an argument in terms of transversals why this is so.

Once your learners can confidently identify corresponding, alternate, and co-interior angles, they are ready to begin calculating missing angles in parallel lines. Students are encouraged to state the reasons alongside each angle calculation throughout. We have produced two versions of this worksheet: with and without clues. This version, with clues, begins with the reasons students will use. Choose which is appropriate for your class or individuals.

Section A begins with 4 basic questions to remind your students of the difference between the angles on parallel lines. Section B builds to include angles on straight lines, vertically opposite angles and two step calculation problems.
