CCSS Description: Add and subtract within 1000, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method. Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, one adds or subtracts hundreds and hundreds, tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds.
Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
This worksheet is designed to provide some more challenging problems involving the formal column addition method. Section A begins with some straightforward sums, each involving three 3-digit numbers. Section B then asks learners to use only digits from 1 to 9 to make the column addition correct. Section C asks for the digits 0 to 9 to be used to form a question and answer and section D asks for the values of letters replacing digits to be found.
