Comparing Area WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: 3rd Grade
CCSS: 3.MD.C.6, 3.MD.D.8
CCSS Description: Measure areas by counting unit squares (square cm, square m, square in, square ft, and improvised units).

Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.

Comparing Area WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet is designed to help students understand and compare the areas of different polygons. Combining analytical skills with creative thinking.

In section A, students are presented with pairs of shapes and are asked to compare the areas using inequality symbols. Shapes have been selected to encourage students to think about the effect of area and more.

Next, section B asks learners to sort shapes according to whether their area is greater, less than or equal to 10 squares.
Then, in creative section C, students are asked to draw shapes based on specific area requirements.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Math.

Frequently Asked Questions

This worksheet is designed for 3rd grade students who are developing their understanding of area concepts. At this level, students are ready to work with inequality symbols and make visual comparisons between different polygon shapes. The combination of analytical comparison tasks and creative drawing activities makes it well-suited for third graders building foundational area skills.
