Composite Functions (A) WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: Algebra II, IM 3
CCSS: HSF.BF.A.1c
CCSS Description: (+) Compose functions. For example, if T(y) is the temperature in the atmosphere as a function of height, and h(t) is the height of a weather balloon as a function of time, then T(h(t)) is the temperature at the location of the weather balloon as a function of time.

Composite Functions (A) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet is designed to give learners plenty of purposeful practice evaluating composite functions and deriving their expressions. Three functions are provided at the start of the worksheet. It then presents a table where learners will need to evaluate composite functions created from two functions. A second table then provides some different functions labelled f and g. Learners must write the expressions both f(g(x)) and g(f(x)).
