Dilations (B) WORKSHEET
Dilations (B) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Dilations (B) sees students practicing dilating from centers of dilation by positive integer and fractional scale factors on square and coordinate grids.
Section A consists of 4 questions on a square grid. Here, students will enlarge from centers of dilation in different relative positions including one ‘inside’ the object.
Section B provides an opportunity for your learners to dilate polygons on coordinate grids in the first quadrant. There are six questions on separate axes where students are given the scale factor and center of dilation in coordinate form. One fractional scale factor is included of 1.5.
Ensure your students are equipped with a pencil and ruler to complete their translations.
All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Math.

Frequently Asked Questions
This Dilations (B) worksheet is designed specifically for 8th grade students who are studying transformations. At this level, students are ready to work with both positive integer and fractional scale factors while understanding how the position of the center of dilation affects the resulting image. The coordinate grid work in Section B particularly aligns with 8th grade geometry standards.
