Divide Decimals by Integers (B) WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: 5th Grade, 6th Grade
CCSS: 5.NBT.B.7, 6.NS.B.3
CCSS Description: CCSS Description: Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals to hundredths, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method and explain the reasoning used.

Fluently add, subtract, multiply, and divide multi‑digit decimals using the standard algorithm for each operation.

Divide Decimals by Integers (B) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Dividing decimals by integers (B) asks learners to divide decimals with up to two decimals by integers where regrouping is required.

Throughout section A, students use place value counters alongside bar models or place value charts to answer six division questions. The section begins with an example that shows a unit being exchanged for 10 tenths and then the counters being divided into equal parts.

Next, in section B, decimals are flexibly partitioned based on multiples of the divisor. Experience of partitioning integers for division will be useful here.

Lastly in section C, pupils will practice using the bus stop method to divide decimals by integers.

See Dividing Decimals by Integers (A) for a version where no regrouping is required.
