Doubling 2 Digit Numbers WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet provides plenty of practice doubling 2 digit numbers. The method of partitioning into tens and ones, doubling and then combining the answers is used throughout in conjunction with part part whole models. We have provided an example to demonstrate how the part part whole models should be used.

On page one learners will double seven numbers where no regrouping of the ones is required for example, 2 x 73.

Page two sees students doubling ten numbers where regrouping is required for example, double 77.

Variation of questions used throughout. Children will be asked to double numbers in words and with the use of addition or multiplication.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Math.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students practice the partitioning method, which breaks 2-digit numbers into tens and ones before doubling each part separately. This 3rd grade strategy helps make multiplication more manageable by working with smaller, friendlier numbers. The part-part-whole models provide visual support to help students organize their thinking and combine their doubled tens and ones back together.
