Equations of Lines Tangent to Circles WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet will help learners practice finding equations of lines which are tangent to a circle. Section A given two circles and asks learners to find the slope of the radii and tangents at two given points. Section B then gives a circle equation and a point on the circle for the tangent equation to be found. Section C gives either the x or y value and whether the other value is positive or negative. Section D then asks for the points what the tangent at a point on a circle would intercept the coordinate axes. An extension question asks for the area of a triangle formed by the xy-axes, a circle with a given center and a tangent at a given point.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Math.
