Exponential Expressions Synthesis WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: 8th Grade
CCSS: 8.EE.A.1, HSN.RN.A.2
CCSS Description: Know and apply the properties of integer exponents to generate equivalent numerical expressions. For example, 32 × 3–5 = 3–3 = 1/33 = 1/27

Rewrite expressions involving radicals and rational exponents using the properties of exponents.

Exponential Expressions Synthesis WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet gives plenty of opportunity to consolidate the skills of exponent laws. Section A asks learners to evaluate some exponents with and without the use of a calculator. Section B then asks learners to simplify some exponential statements involving terms with the same base. Section C then moves on to negative exponents, applied to both numerical and algebraic terms. Section D introduces questions with fractional exponents for both numerical and algebraic terms. Finally, section E requires some algebraic terms with fractional and negative exponents to be rewritten.
