Factors and Prime Numbers WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

‘Factors and Prime Numbers’ is the perfect introduction to prime factor decomposition or consolidation activity after working with factors and identifying prime numbers.

In order to equip students with a systematic approach, they are provided with a table of numbers from 1 - 30 and 1 - 50 and asked to highlight all the prime numbers and factors of 30 and 50 respectively. The identified numbers are then sorted in venn diagrams into sets of primes and factors. The prime factors of these numbers suddenly appear in the intersections!

Students will repeat this activity with four more venn diagrams to complete. For extra challenge, we have included some three set venn diagrams, giving teachers and parents the opportunity to discuss common factors.
