Finding the Missing Length From the Perimeter WORKSHEET
Suitable for Grades: 3rd Grade, 4th Grade
CCSS: 3.MD.D.8, 4.MD.A.3
CCSS Description: Solve real world and mathematical problems involving perimeters of polygons, including finding the perimeter given the side lengths, finding an unknown side length, and exhibiting rectangles with the same perimeter and different areas or with the same area and different perimeters.
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.

Finding the Missing Length From the Perimeter WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
This worksheet extends learners' knowledge of perimeter by challenging them to apply their knowledge to find missing lengths in triangles, rectangles and other polygons when given the perimeter.
Students begin with triangles in section A and will progressively tackle more complex problems.
In section B learners will find missing lengths in rectangles when one dimension is given along with the perimeter.
Your learner's problem solving ability will be tested in section C as learners are challenged to calculate the missing lengths of irregular hexagons and two irregular octagons. These problems require students to be able to calculate missing lengths in polygons.
