In Terms of Pi (B) WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: Geometry, IM 2
CCSS: HSG.C.B.5
CCSS Description: Derive using similarity the fact that the length of the arc intercepted by an angle is proportional to the radius, and define the radian measure of the angle as the constant of proportionality; derive the formula for the area of a sector.

In Terms of Pi (B) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Here is a non-calculator worksheet on area and arc length of sectors of circles. Answers, where appropriate, will be left in terms of pi.

Section A is about finding the arc length given either the radius or diameter and the angle at the center of the sector.

Section B is about finding the area of the sectors.

In Section C, learners are required to use the skills just practiced to problem solve. There are four questions where they will use given arc lengths and areas of sectors to calculate the length of the radius or the angle at the center of the sector.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Math.

Frequently Asked Questions

This worksheet is designed for IM 2 and Geometry students who are studying circles. These grade levels typically work with more advanced circle concepts that require leaving answers in terms of pi rather than decimal approximations.
