Parts of a Circle WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: Geometry, IM 1
CCSS: HSG.C.A.2
CCSS Description: Identify and describe relationships among inscribed angles, radii, and chords. Include the relationship between central, inscribed, and circumscribed angles; inscribed angles on a diameter are right angles; the radius of a circle is perpendicular to the tangent where the radius intersects the circle.

Parts of a Circle WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Get to grips with naming parts of a circle with this worksheet, which focuses on the radius, circumference, diameter, tangent, arc, chord, segment, and sector.

In Section A, learners will name these parts from their descriptions and then label them on a diagram of a circle.

In Section B, students will read six statements and decide whether they are always, sometimes, or never true in question 1. Statements include “a chord passes through the center of a circle.” In question 2, they will tick images that show a true diameter.

Lastly, students are required to draw or show all the required parts on eight circle templates.
