Suitable for Grades: 6th Grade
CCSS: 6.NS.B.4
CCSS Description: Find the greatest common factor of two whole numbers less than or equal to 100 and the least common multiple of two whole numbers less than or equal to 12. Use the distributive property to express a sum of two whole numbers 1–100 with a common factor as a multiple of a sum of two whole numbers with no common factor. For example, express 36 + 8 as 4 (9 + 2).

Prime Factorization for GCF and LCM (A) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Practice using the prime factorization of pairs of numbers to find the GCF and LCM with venn diagrams in this worksheet. In section A, learners will match numbers to given products of prime factors.

Next, in section B, students use their previous answers and enter the information into pre-drawn venn diagrams in order to find the GCF and LCM of pairs of numbers.

Section C consists of six more questions on either finding the GCF or LCM of pairs of numbers. This time, students are required to find the prime factorization of these numbers themselves, before drawing up their own venn diagrams to answer the questions.
