Probability Ranges (Impossible to Certain) WORKSHEET
Suitable for Grades: 7th Grade
CCSS: 7.SP.C.5
CCSS Description: Understand that the probability of a chance event is a number between 0 and 1 that expresses the likelihood of the event occurring. Larger numbers indicate greater likelihood. A probability near 0 indicates an unlikely event, a probability around 1/2 indicates an event that is neither unlikely nor likely, and a probability near 1 indicates a likely even
Probability Ranges (Impossible to Certain) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Familiarize your students with the language of probability and introduce them to the probability scale with this worksheet.
In section A, learners will place nine statements on a scale from impossible to certain. Next, students will evaluate eight statements such as “you will blink today” and will decide what the probability is of each event. Language used includes impossible, very unlikely, unlikely, even chance, likely, very likely, and certain. The last section asks students to create an event to match each of the probabilities listed above.
See our worksheet “Calculating Probability” next. It is the perfect follow up to the language of probability.
