Properties of triangles WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: 4th Grade, 5th Grade
CCSS: 4.G.A.2, 5.G.B.3
CCSS Description: Classify two-dimensional figures based on the presence or absence of parallel or perpendicular lines, or the presence or absence of angles of a specified size. Recognize right triangles as a category, and identify right triangles.

CCSS Description: Understand that attributes belonging to a category of two‑dimensional figures also belong to all subcategories of that category. For example, all rectangles have four right angles and squares are rectangles, so all squares have four right angles.

Properties of triangles WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet will see learners matching properties of shape to the correct triangles, classifying triangles and solving problems using facts about triangles.

In section A, pupils are given 15 different properties of shape and will assign these to triangle types. Some of the properties can be assigned to multiple triangles.

Students are faced with images of 9 different triangles in section B which they will name according to their properties. Here angle and line notation is used as well as triangles with numerical angle and length labels.

Pencils and rulers are required in section C as pupils attempt to draw five triangles on an isometric grid. One of which is very hard to do!

Then in section D, learners are required to use the properties of triangles to solve problems including interior angles of a regular hexagon, working with perimeter and discovering that angles in a triangle sum to 180o.
