Ratio and Fractions WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: 6th Grade, 7th Grade
CCSS: 6.RP.A.1, 7.RP.A.1
CCSS Description: Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. For example, “The ratio of wings to beaks in the bird house at the zoo was 2:1, because for every 2 wings there was 1 beak.” “For every vote candidate A received, candidate C received nearly three votes.”

Compute unit rates associated with ratios of fractions, including ratios of lengths, areas, and other quantities measured in like or different units. For example, walk 1/2 mile in 1/4 hour yields a rate of 2 miles per hour.

Ratio and Fractions WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Images are used in Ratio and Fractions to aid in students' understanding of ratio and fraction equivalence.

Section A starts with 3 questions about colored counters. Students will consider the total parts and see the link between this and the denominator of the equivalent fraction as well stating the number of counters as a ratio.

Then, in section B learners are given three partially shaded rectangles, and they then have to state fractions and ratios of the shaded and unshaded parts.

In section C, students are given three ratios which they will write as a fraction.

Lastly, pupils will use bar models to write fractions as ratios.
