Similar Triangles (A) WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: Geometry, IM 1
CCSS: HSG.SRT.A.2
CCSS Description: Given two figures, use the definition of similarity in terms of similarity transformations to decide if they are similar; explain using similarity transformations the meaning of similarity for triangles as the equality of all corresponding pairs of angles and the proportionality of all corresponding pairs of sides.

Similar Triangles (A) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Students will begin to identify similar triangles using the conditions of similarity and calculate missing lengths in pairs of similar triangles with this worksheet.

Section A consists of four sets of three triangles. Learners must identify the pair of similar triangles as well as state the condition for similarity.

In section B, students are told that pairs of triangles are similar, and they will calculate the missing lengths in both triangles, ensuring they practice using the scale factor of enlargement to increase and decrease given lengths. This section gets increasingly difficult as learners will have to use the angles to identify corresponding lengths in the similar triangles.
