Simplifying Fractions (C) WORKSHEET
Suitable for Grades: 4th Grade
CCSS: 4.NF.A.1
CCSS Description: Explain why a fraction a/b is equivalent to a fraction (n × a)/(n × b) by using visual fraction models, with attention to how the number and size of the parts differ even though the two fractions themselves are the same size. Use this principle to recognize and generate equivalent fractions.
Simplifying Fractions (C) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
This worksheet is the final in our series on simplifying fractions. It begins with students identifying which fractions can be simplified.
The following 4 sections get increasingly more difficult. Your students will be secure in simplifying fractions after working through all sections.
Sections C and D require learners to simplify proper fractions.
In section E, students are given 12 improper fractions to simplify and then convert to mixed numbers.
Finally, students have 12 mixed numbers to write as simplified proper fractions.
