Suitable for Grades: 8th Grade, Algebra I, IM 1
CCSS: 8.EE.A.1, HSN.RN.A.2
CCSS Description: Know and apply the properties of integer exponents to generate equivalent numerical expressions. For example, 32 × 3–5 = 3–3 = 1/33 = 1/27
Rewrite expressions involving radicals and rational exponents using the properties of exponents.

Solving Equations - Unknowns are Indices WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Challenge higher tier pupils with this worksheet that’ll see them forming and solving linear equations based around the laws of indices. Split over three main sections, the worksheet will first of all see learners forming and solving one and two step linear equations without the need to use any index laws. Gradually basic index laws are woven in.
In section C, students are required to change the base of one or two terms before an equation can be formed.
Lastly, in section D pupils will use fractional and negative index laws.
Learners are encouraged to use substitution to check their answers throughout.
