Substituing Value into Formulas Word Problems (A) WORKSHEET
Suitable for Grades: 6th Grade
CCSS: 6.EE.A.2.C
CCSS Description: Evaluate expressions at specific values of their variables. Include expressions that arise from formulas used in real-world problems. Perform arithmetic operations, including those involving whole-number exponents, in the conventional order when there are no parentheses to specify a particular order (Order of Operations). For example, use the formulas V = s3 and A = 6 s2 to find the volume and surface area of a cube with sides of length s = 1/2.
Substituing Value into Formulas Word Problems (A) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
This worksheet introduces students to substituting into formulae from word problems as well as creating formulae for different scenarios.
In section A, students will answer five questions where they are given formulae and must use them to calculate either the subject or another variable from given information. Section B asks students to create a formula for three different scenarios.
Questions are based around the following themes: volume, area, surface area, perimeter, speed, fare calculation for a taxi driver, and rates of a mechanic.
We have created two versions of this worksheet, this version without clues and one with. Choose whichever works best for your class/individual or have both available.
