Substituting into Quadratic Expressions worksheet description

In this worksheet students will substitute positive and negative integers into quadratic expressions, making it ideal preparation for using tables of values to plot quadratic graphs.

Pupils are encouraged to underline which part of the calculation they will work out first and second in Section A. This is to avoid any errors, such as including a number twice within their calculations, and to ensure they are considering the correct order of operations.

In Section B, learners will choose the correct value of the expression after given numbers are substituted in place of variables from a choice of four answers. This section is designed in order to draw out any misconceptions.

Students will substitute into a further 8 quadratic expressions in Section C.

All expressions contain only one variable and up to three terms.
