This worksheet provides an example of how a blank number line can aid students when subtracting ones from three digit numbers where regrouping is required.
Templates are provided for the first few questions to guide students through using this model.
Multiples of ten are used as ‘signposts’ on the number lines as students consider what subtractions get them there and what else they need to subtract.
