Translations in the 1st Quadrant (B) WORKSHEET
Translations in the 1st Quadrant (B) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
This worksheet follows on from Translations in the 1st Quadrant (A) by asking learners to think about the translation used and how combinations of translations can be written as one single translation. Section A provides a point and its image on a coordinate grid after a translation and requires the translation to be described. Section B then provides just the object and image coordinates and asks for the translation. Section C then asks learners to follow a combination of translations for some points and then give the single translations for each. Finally, section D asks learners to translate the vertices of some shapes and then write down the name of the new shape.
All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Math.

Frequently Asked Questions
This worksheet builds on the foundational skills from version A by challenging 8th graders to work backwards from translation results and combine multiple movements. Instead of just performing translations, students analyze completed translations to determine what movement occurred, and they learn to simplify multiple translations into a single equivalent movement.
