CCSS Description: Add and subtract within 1000, using concrete models or drawings and strategies based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction; relate the strategy to a written method. Understand that in adding or subtracting three-digit numbers, one adds or subtracts hundreds and hundreds, tens and tens, ones and ones; and sometimes it is necessary to compose or decompose tens or hundreds.
Fluently add and subtract within 1000 using strategies and algorithms based on place value, properties of operations, and/or the relationship between addition and subtraction.
This worksheet will give your learners opportunity to practise their preferred methods for addition and subtraction of numbers with up to four digits while using related operations to either check answers, calculations or solve missing number problems.
Students are reminded of the use of bar modelling for addition and subtraction number sentences in section A and introduced to related calculations.
In section B students will put this knowledge to use as they check the accuracy of answers to ten number sentences and solve a further six missing number problems.
