Suitable for Grades: 8th Grade
CCSS: 8.G.C.9
CCSS Description: Know the formulas for the volumes of cones, cylinders, and spheres and use them to solve real-world and mathematical problems.

Volume of Prisms and Cylinders WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet is great as an introductory task for finding the volume of prisms and cylinders. Section A would be perfect as a review activity, as it requires learners to find the area of 2D shapes that would form the cross-section of a prism or cylinder. Section B then provides some 3D shapes beginning with cuboids and triangular prisms, before then including prisms with trapezoid cross-sections, and then ends with some cylinders.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Math.

Frequently Asked Questions

This worksheet is specifically designed for 8th grade students who are learning about volume and surface area concepts. At this level, students are ready to tackle the progression from finding areas of 2D cross-sections to calculating volumes of various 3D shapes like prisms and cylinders.
