Dilations (B) WORKSHEET
Suitable for Grades: 8th Grade
CCSS: 8.G.A.4
CCSS Description: Understand that a two-dimensional figure is similar to another if the second can be obtained from the first by a sequence of rotations, reflections, translations, and dilations; given two similar two-dimensional figures, describe a sequence that exhibits the similarity between them.
Dilations (B) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Dilations (B) sees students practicing dilating from centers of dilation by positive integer and fractional scale factors on square and coordinate grids.
Section A consists of 4 questions on a square grid. Here, students will enlarge from centers of dilation in different relative positions including one ‘inside’ the object.
Section B provides an opportunity for your learners to dilate polygons on coordinate grids in the first quadrant. There are six questions on separate axes where students are given the scale factor and center of dilation in coordinate form. One fractional scale factor is included of 1.5.
Ensure your students are equipped with a pencil and ruler to complete their translations.
