Measuring and Understanding Bearings WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet will give learners a good opportunity to grasp the concept of measuring and understanding bearings in a clockwise direction from north.

In Section A students explore key principles of bearings such as clockwise measurement from north, and three-digit notation through a series of always, sometimes, or never true statements and reading bearings from a diagram.

Section B focuses on practical measurement skills, presenting diagrams where learners can measure bearings using protractors. This section includes straightforward angles that can be measured with standard equipment, along with exercises requiring students to find both forward and reverse bearings between pairs of points.

Finally, the worksheet includes problem-solving exercises where students are given one bearing and must calculate the corresponding reverse bearing. These problems reinforce the conceptual understanding that bearings form supplementary relationships when measured in opposite directions between the same two points.
