Measuring Bearings WORKSHEET
Make formal geometric constructions with a variety of tools and methods (compass and straightedge, string, reflective devices, paper folding, dynamic geometric software, etc.). Copying a segment; copying an angle; bisecting a segment; bisecting an angle; constructing perpendicular lines, including the perpendicular bisector of a line segment; and constructing a line parallel to a given line through a point not on the line.
Measuring Bearings WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
This worksheet will give learners a good opportunity to grasp the concept of measuring bearings in a clockwise direction. Section A provides some bearings that can be measured easily with a half-circle protractor. Section B provides some bearings that would need either a full circle protractor or a subtraction type method to correctly measure the clockwise angle. Section C then provides some points on a grid where learners will need to understand the language of bearings to help them measure the correct angle. Finally, an extension section provides an image of three points referring to towns. Learners will need to add North lines to help them measure the bearings.
