Substituting into Expressions (C) WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: 6th Grade
CCSS: 6.EE.A.2.C
CCSS Description: Evaluate expressions at specific values of their variables. Include expressions that arise from formulas used in real-world problems. Perform arithmetic operations, including those involving whole-number exponents, in the conventional order when there are no parentheses to specify a particular order (Order of Operations). For example, use the formulas V = s3 and A = 6 s2 to find the volume and surface area of a cube with sides of length s = 1/2.

Substituting into Expressions (C) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Learners will practice substituting positive and negative integer values into a variety of increasingly complex expressions throughout this worksheet. The layout encourages students to write out the calculation they will complete, after substitution of the given value in full before finding the value of each expression.

Students are required to calculate using the correct order of operations throughout, including the use of parentheses and exponents within expressions. Sections B and C also include fraction notation for division.

Answers consist of positive and negative integers and fractions. Our answer sheet provides step by step detail of how each answer is derived.
