Writing Rational Numbers as Decimals WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: 7th Grade
CCSS: 7.NS.A.2.C, 7.NS.A.2.D
CCSS Description: Apply properties of operations as strategies to multiply and divide rational numbers.

Convert a rational number to a decimal using long division; know that the decimal form of a rational number terminates in 0s or eventually repeats.

Writing Rational Numbers as Decimals WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Dive into the conversion of fractions to either terminating or recurring decimals (and vice versa) with this worksheet.

Students will begin by filling in gaps in sentences that define rational numbers, helping them understand the fundamental properties of these numbers. Then students will show that five decimal numbers are rational by converting them to fractions. This task reinforces the concept that decimals which terminate or repeat are rational, as they can be expressed in fractional form.
In Section C, pupils will use division to convert fractions to decimals. There are 6 proper fractions and nine improper fractions to convert over two questions here.

By completing this worksheet, learners will practise critical arithmetic skills such as division and simplification of fractions.
