Writing Ratios (A) WORKSHEET

Suitable for Grades: 6th Grade
CCSS: 6.RP.A.1
CCSS Description: Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. For example, “The ratio of wings to beaks in the bird house at the zoo was 2:1, because for every 2 wings there was 1 beak.” “For every vote candidate A received, candidate C received nearly three votes.”

Writing Ratios (A) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Images are used in Ratio and Fractions A to aid in students' understanding of ratio and fraction equivalence.

Section A starts with 3 questions around colored counters with the ratios stated. Students will consider the total parts and see the link between this and the denominator of the equivalent fraction.

Then, in section B, learners are given three partially shaded rectangles, for which they then have to state fractions and ratios of the shaded and unshaded parts.

In section C, students are given a fraction and asked to convert this into a two part ratio.

Try Writing Ratios B.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Math.
