Writing Ratios (B) WORKSHEET
Suitable for Grades: 6th Grade
CCSS: 6.RP.A.1
CCSS Description: Understand the concept of a ratio and use ratio language to describe a ratio relationship between two quantities. For example, “The ratio of wings to beaks in the bird house at the zoo was 2:1, because for every 2 wings there was 1 beak.” “For every vote candidate A received, candidate C received nearly three votes.”
Writing Ratios (B) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Mastering the equivalence of fractions and ratios is particularly useful for students who prefer to share an amount into a given ratio by using fractions.
Firstly, students will write fractions of shaded and unshaded parts of three different rectangles and also consider what the ratio of unshaded:shaded would be.
In section B, learners are given ratios, such as the ratio of maps:globes, and asked to state the fraction of each part of the ratio.
This worksheet includes an extension where your learners can consider a ratio which includes different units of time.
