Comparing Areas and Perimeters (C) WORKSHEET
Comparing Areas and Perimeters (C) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
This series of differentiated worksheets enables pupils to recognise that shapes with the same areas can have different perimeters and vice versa.
This version sees pupils considering triangles with the same area and they are asked to measure the perimeter of these triangles with a ruler to discover that the perimeters are not the same.
Then in sections B and C learners will look at triangles and rectangles with the same area and compare their perimeters.
All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions
This worksheet helps Year 6 students understand a key mathematical concept about area and perimeter - that these two measurements are independent of each other. Through hands-on measuring activities with triangles and rectangles, pupils will discover that shapes can have identical areas but completely different perimeters, which often surprises young learners.
