Arc Length WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Develop students' understanding of how to find the length of a portion of a circle's circumference with this worksheet.

In Section A, students will be introduced to the concept of arc length by finding the circumference of a circle. They will then calculate the highlighted arc length by determining what fraction of the circle is shaded.

Section B builds on this as students will calculate the length of a highlighted arc through a fill-in-the-gaps exercise, progressing to independently calculating arc length from a given radius and central angle.

Section C extends this learning by challenging students to find the perimeter of a sector, combining their knowledge of arc length with the lengths of the radii. It concludes with a table completion task that requires students to apply all their skills to work forwards and backwards; for example, using the arc length or perimeter to calculate the radius.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be comfortable with calculating the circumference of a circle, as this forms the foundation for understanding arc length calculations. They'll also need to work confidently with fractions - particularly finding fractions of amounts, multiplying fractions, and simplifying them - since arc length involves determining what fraction of the total circumference is represented by the arc.
