Describing Rotations and Reflections WORKSHEET
Suitable for Year groups: Year 9, Year 10, Year 11
GCSE Tier: Foundation/Higher

Prerequisite knowledge: Carry out reflection and rotation on a coordinate grid. Coordinates in all four quadrants. x=a and y=b lines.
Describing Rotations and Reflections WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
Students can begin to describe single transformations fully with this worksheet. As the worksheet only contains reflections and rotations learners can really focus on the difference in these two transformations. The worksheet consists of nine questions with an object and an image clearly labelled and displayed on their own set of axes in all four quadrants.
When describing reflection students must state the equation of the mirror line such as y = -3 and to describe rotations the angle and direction of rotation should be stated along with the centre of rotation given as a coordinate.
Learners may use tracing paper throughout, it proves very useful when describing rotations.
