Exterior Angles in Polygons WORKSHEET
Suitable for Year groups: Year 8, Year 9
GCSE Tier: Foundation/Higher
Targeting grades: 4-5
Prerequisite knowledge: Angle facts such as: angles in a triangle sum to 180°, angles on a straight line sum to 180°, and angles in a quadrilateral sum to 360°.
Exterior Angles in Polygons WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION
This worksheet will help learners understand and calculate exterior angles in polygons. Each diagram is not drawn to scale so learners will need to apply their knowledge of angle properties and polygon rules to solve the problems.
Section A reinforces understanding through identification exercises where students highlight interior and exterior angles, complete gap-fill statements about adjacent angle relationships, and identify correctly drawn exterior angles from multiple diagrams.
In Section B, learners will practice finding missing angles in irregular polygons; using the fundamental rules that exterior angles of any polygon sum to 360° and adjacent interior angles and exterior angles sum to 180°.
Section C progresses to regular polygons and Section D extends this knowledge, requiring students to answer questions without images such as “How many sides does a regular polygon have if each exterior angle is 40°?
