Finding Gradients (C) WORKSHEET

Suitable for Year groups: Year 8, Year 9, Year 10
GCSE Tier: Foundation/Higher
Targeting grades: 4-5
Prerequisite knowledge: Coordinates in all four quadrants.
Learning Objective: Calculate and interpret gradients.

Finding Gradients (C) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

Throughout this worksheet, students will focus on calculating the gradients of line segments connecting two points. The questions begin with points shown on the coordinate grids, progressing to coordinates of the points provided with and without blank coordinate grids.

The straight lines have both positive and negative gradients, five of which are fractional.

Now students are ready to find the equations of straight lines, see our worksheet Finding the Equation of the Line (C).

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be comfortable working with coordinates in all four quadrants before tackling these gradient problems. This foundational knowledge is essential because they'll be calculating gradients using points that may have negative x or y values, requiring confident handling of positive and negative coordinates across the entire coordinate plane.
