Targeting grades: 4-5
Prerequisite knowledge: Operations with fractions, decimals and directed numbers.
Learning Objective: Recognise geometric sequences

Geometric Sequences (A) WORKSHEET DESCRIPTION

This worksheet will see pupils identifying, completing and creating geometric sequences across three different sections as well as calculating the common ratio of sequences.

Section A consists of 12 different sequences, and pupils are asked to circle any that are geometric. Sequences are numerical and algebraic, increasing and decreasing and included are numerical sequences with fractional and decimal terms.

Next, learners will find the common ratio of eight different geometric sequences, including some with hidden terms.

In Section C, students are required to complete ten geometric sequences by filling in the gaps and finding missing terms,

Pupils create their own geometric sequences in section D as they complete three ‘show me’ questions.

All worksheets are created by the team of experienced teachers at Cazoom Maths.

Frequently Asked Questions

Students should be confident with operations involving fractions, decimals and directed numbers before tackling this worksheet. These skills are essential because geometric sequences can involve multiplying and dividing various types of numbers, including negative values and non-integers. Without this foundation, pupils may struggle with calculating common ratios and identifying sequence patterns accurately.
